Yangon, March 18 (IANS) Myanmar authorities seized narcotic drugs valued at 2.56 billion kyats ($1.69 million) in Mandalay region, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse said on Monday.
The seizure was made by the police force in Patheingyi on Sunday, reports Xinhua news agency.
Soap boxes filled with 2.42 kg of heroin and 480,000 stimulant tablets were confiscated from a car travelling from Muse to Mandalay at a checkpoint in the township.
The suspects on the car were charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
