New Delhi, Feb 13 (IANS) Cricket bookie Sanjeev Chawla, who was extradited to India on early Thursday, was produced before the Patiala House Court.
Chawla was produced before Additional Chief Metropolitian Magistrate Sudhir Kumar Sirohi by the Delhi Police's Crime Branch which sought 14 days custody for questioning.
The investigating officer told the court: "He is the main conspirator and king pin. He is accused of fixing matches in Nagpur, Vadodara, Kochi, Mumbai and Jamshedpur."
"He used to go to the Taj Hotel in Mumbai and there is a need to take him there... It is a big conspiracy. Multiple countries are involved in the conspiracy. A South African Commission too conducted an inquiry."
The defence counsel strongly opposed the demand for police remand.
