Begum Mumtaj Mahal, wife of Shah Jahan, Emperor of India, passed away at Burhanpur a few hours after the birth of a daughter. She was married in 1612 and the Taj Mahal was built for her.

3/17/1999An international seminar on UN Peacekeeping was co-jointly hosted by Ministry of External affairs and Ministry of Defence at New Delhi from 17 to 19 March 1999. The seminar was conducted by HQ Army Training Command, Shimla on behalf of the Indian Army. A total of 126 foreign delegates from 71 countries participated in the seminar.

7/4/1989Capt. W. A. Sangma appointed Governor of Mizoram and A. A. Rahim Governor of Meghalaya.
3/21/1966Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS-P3) placed into polar orbit. This carries remote sensing payload and an X-ray astronomy payload. Launched by third developmental flight of India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-D3) which is for launching 1,000-1,200 kg class of remote sensing satellites into polar sun-synchronous orbit. Still in service.
8/19/1934Dr. Hiralal died. He was a distinguished historian and contributed numerous articles to 'Indian Antiquary', 'Epigraphia Indica', The Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society, etc. He was also an honorary correspondent in Archaeology to the Government of India.
