Historical Event on 9/20/1856

Narayan Guru was born in Chempazhanthi village of Kerala. Sri Narayan Guru was a social reformer, led reform movement in Kerala, rejected casteism, and promoted new values of spiritual freedom and social equality. He also stressed the need for the spiritual and social uplift of the downtrodden by their own efforts through the establishment of temples and educational institutions. In the process, he denounced the superstitions that clouded the fundamental Hindu cultural convention of caste.

9/20/1856Malik Kafur, Alauddin Khilji's Commander, won the impregnable fort of Devgiri. The fort was entered by the enemy. Raja Ramdeva was taken prisoner and sent to Delhi where Alauddin recieved him untill his death in 1312.

4/22/1930Civil Disobedience at Dandi, 6th April 1930 and Civil Disobedience at Bombay, 7th April 1930, both documentary films produced by Krishna Film Co., Bombay, were prohibited by Censor Board on April 22, on the grounds that they were calculated to foster resistance to Government and to promote a breach of Law and Order.
