Infosys to digitise IT ops of GE Appliances

Bengaluru, Feb 19 (IANS) Global software major Infosys said on Wednesday that it would digitise the IT operations of GE Appliances, which is a subsidiary of Chinese home appliances and consumer electronics major Haier.

"As an IT services partner, we will help GE Appliances streamline its IT infrastructure and run IT in managed services mode," said the city-based outsourcing firm in a statement here.

Haier and KKR acquired GE Appliances for a whopping $5.6 billion in June 2016, with a right to the brand name of the US-based transnational General Electric (GE) until 2056.

"We will also assist GE Appliances digitise its workplace through automation-driven managed IT services support across command centres, service desks, end-user computing, IT infrastructure and applications," said the statement.

The software vendor has developed a unified custom delivery model to accelerate GE Appliances' digital journey.

"With our expertise in executing large transformation programmes, we will co-innovate with GE Appliances to deliver great customer experiences," said Infosys' manufacturing global head Jasmeet Singh on the occasion.

Headquartered in Qingdao, Haier designs, develops, manufactures and sells products, including refrigerators, air-conditioners, washing machines, microwave ovens, mobile phones, computers, and televisions.

"As we are on a multi-year journey to transform our IT landscape and re-imagine the way we work, digitisation will help us innovate better and faster for our end-users, with Infosys as a key partner," said GE Appliances chief digital officer Viren Shah.
